What we collect

Your email address and name, from the sign-in method you choose. They never appear on your public card.
Your profile: age, gender, city and country, profession, education, faith practice, the attributes and interests you choose to answer, your prompts, and your photos.
Your approximate location, as coordinates, if you allow it.
Your messages, swipes, matches, and who has viewed your profile.
Occasions you post publicly, with their photos, names and comments.

Location and distance

If you allow location access, we store your coordinates so other members can see how many miles away you are. Your exact position is never sent to another member — the distance they see is rounded. You can switch distance off in Settings, or refuse location access entirely; the app works without it.

Photos, and the 72-hour rule

Profile photos stay for as long as your account exists.
Photos sent in chat, and verification selfies, are permanently deleted 72 hours after upload — unrecoverable afterwards, by you or by us. (One exception: the selfie that earned a verification badge is kept while the badge stands — see Face verification below.)
Chat photos must be taken live inside the app; a picture from the gallery cannot be sent into a conversation.
Photos on public Occasions posts are deleted with the post, 72 hours after it goes up.
Within those 72 hours your own device may keep a local copy in the app; deleting the app removes it.

Messages and encryption — honestly

Message text is encrypted before it is stored, using AES-256-GCM. If our database were read directly, your conversations would be unreadable.

The limit of that, plainly: this is encryption at rest, not end-to-end encryption. Jura's moderation team can decrypt and read a conversation — but only when it has been reported by one of its participants, and every such access is recorded in a permanent audit log.

Message text is kept indefinitely unless you delete your account.

Face verification (biometric data)

Verification happens live, in the app — a picture from your gallery is refused. On most phones you are asked to follow a short sequence in a random order — look straight, turn, blink, smile — read directly from the camera, so a printed photo or a replayed video does not pass. On devices that cannot stream the camera, a single in-app selfie is used instead, which is a weaker check. Software then compares the captured face with the faces in your own profile photos; the verified badge is granted only on a match. Face comparison is used for identity verification and fraud prevention only — never for advertising, and never shared. Verification photos are never shown to other members.

What the badge means, precisely: the person in these profile photos completed the live check. Determined impersonation is never impossible; treat the badge as strong assurance, not absolute proof of identity. A failed or unused verification selfie is permanently deleted within 72 hours. The one selfie that earned the badge is kept for as long as the badge stands — new photos are quietly compared against it — and is deleted when you remove it, when verification is revoked, or when a newer one replaces it.

What other members see — and never see

Your profile, your photos, and a rounded distance. Never your email, never your coordinates.
People you have not matched with cannot read your private messages.
Occasions you post are visible to all signed-in members, with your first name.
Blocked members disappear from your deck, and you from theirs.

Where your data lives

Jura runs on Cloudflare infrastructure: profiles and messages in Cloudflare D1, photos in Cloudflare R2. Face verification runs on a private Jura service; images pass through it for comparison and are not retained there. If you sign in with Google, Google confirms your identity to us — we never receive your Google password.

We do not sell your data. We do not show advertising. We do not share your information with third parties beyond the infrastructure named above, acting on our instructions.

Deleting your account

Settings → Account → Delete my account removes your profile, photos, matches and messages, immediately and permanently. Records of moderation actions are kept as a permanent audit trail. Full instructions: delete your account.

Age

Jura is for adults. You must be 18 or older. Accounts found to belong to anyone younger are removed.
